A Very Special Good Night was a programming block that aired on PBS KIDS Sprout on September 11, 2006. The block was hosted by Leo, who would plant trees, sing songs, show Sproutlets' artwork, and introduce shows with Star and a new character, Lucy.
After the second season of The Good Night Show premiered in July, Melanie Martinez, who played Melanie the Babysitter, informed the show's production crew that she was in two PSAs on the now-defunct website technicalvirgin.com - "I Have a Future" and "Boys Can Wait." Seeing how the PSAs were not appropriate enough for Sprout's standard preschool audience, the crew fired Martinez, and thus, The Good Night Show went on hiatus, with music videos starring Sproutlets being shown instead, while a nationwide search was held for a new host (main article: Firing of Melanie Martinez). A Very Special Good Night premiered on September 11, 2006 to commemorate Sprout's first anniversary, alongside Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks, Fireman Sam, and Sprout Diner.
24 episodes were produced. A Sprout Press Room article states segments from these shows would still appear when Nina was introduced in a reboot of The Good Night Show, with the first season, which premiered on December 18th.
