SCENE 1 | Nina greets the Sproutlets at home and tells them that she was just telling Star about a party she went to today - a birthday party. There, she had cake and Sarah spent time with her family and friends. Nina then gets the idea to go on a birthday adventure, leading to a rendition of "The Welcome Song," Star admits that his birthday is special because he gets to eat things like cake, which he loves, but doesn't normally eat. He then explains that on his last birthday, he turned four years old and had a party with balloons, blew out four candles on his cake, everyone sang a song, and he made a wish - to play with Nina and the Sproutlets every night. Nina then explains that birthday in Spanish is cumpleanos, which she invites Star and the Sproutlets to say with her. Star asks Nina what's in the yellow basket by the moon chair. She tells him that those are birthday party accessories like hats and horns, and then recites a poem in both English and Spanish about birthdays, with Star joining in. Star admits his favorite part about his cumpleanos was that his age changed. Nina explains that birthdays are good times to think about the new things one tried in the prior year, and teaches the sign for birthday. |

SCENE 2 | It's time for Lucy Light the Way. Based on clues (an elephant, a bear on a unicycle, and a tent), Nina and Star guess Lucy is at a circus (EKA: Circus). The duo then reminds the Sproutlets that cumpleanos means birthday in Spanish. Star doesn't know how to say "happy birthday" in Spanish, which Nina explains is feliz cumpleanos. Nina explains that a cumpleanos comes once a year, but there's something she'd like to do right now that she does every night - find shapes in the stars through the Sprout-o-scope! After singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," the duo notices constellations of a cake with three candles and a balloon. They then hear Chica squeaking and head off to visit her in the Sunshine Barn. |

SCENE 3 | Back in the You and Me Tree, Nina asks the Sproutlets if they can guess where Star is - he’s in the Goodnight Garden talking with real Sproutlets, leading to a Star Talks segment in which he and his Sproutlet friends discuss birthdays. Afterwards, Nina recites a poem about birthdays and asks the Sproutlets if they remember how to say cumpleanos. She then hears her Sproutlet friends calling her, which means it's time to do a Sprout stretch. Tonight, Nina and her friends do a stretch called the Birthday Candle. |

SCENE 4 | Nina tells her Sproutlet friends that it's always a gift when she spends her nights with them. Star tells Nina that he loves gifts since one gets to unwrap and then play with them. Nina tells Star that giving a friend a gift is just as exciting. She then tells him that she has a sandy gift for him, leading to a sandy story about a boy named Al, whose family hails from Mexico, celebrating his birthday with a piñata. Afterwards, the duo does two important things before bed - feed Hush and clean up, doing the latter through song. |

SCENE 5 | Nina explains that tonight, she and Star are talking about wonderful things that happened on their birthdays, or cumpleanos. Star can't wait for his birthday, and Nina suggests organizing a party for him and inviting his family and friends, an idea he loves. She then explains that a fun thing to do on one's birthday is to imagine going on new adventures in the forthcoming year. Star asks if they'll play games at the party, Nina agrees, if that's he wants to do. Star asks what games they'll play. Nina says they'll think about it, since his birthday isn't for a while, but now there's something he should do instead. Star thinks it's suggesting what games to play, such as "Pin the Tail on the Donkey," a potato sack race, or an egg toss. Nina reminds him and suggests making a fun game of it, leading to "Ready for Bed." After the number, Nina tells Star he looks "snug as a bug" and asks him if he enjoyed their birthday adventure. Star did, and admits he thinks birthdays are special because one turns a year older and gets to do new things. Nina admits he's right, but now it's time to close his eyes and dream about his birthday and all the things he'll do when he’s older. Star then falls asleep. Now it's time to say goodnight to Hush, so Nina signs his goodnight poem with help from the Sproutlets. She then sings the Goodnight Song as Lucy closes out the episode. |
