PBS Kids Sprout TV Wiki

The topic of this page has a wiki of its own: Boohbah Wiki.

Boohbah is a British children's television programme created by Anne Wood, who also created Teletubbies with Andrew Davenport. It premiered on 14 April 2003 on ITV1 in the United Kingdom, followed by its Nick Jr. UK premiere on 2 April 2005. It aired in the United States on PBS Kids. The series is produced by Ragdoll Productions. Because PBS co-owned Sprout when the channel was launched, it aired a variety of shows from its archive library on Sprout, including reruns of Boohbah.

Plot

"Boohbah encourages physical action and fosters creative thinking by combining infectious, magical movement to imitate and stories to predict outcomes. The show draws on science, math and art concepts as well as "televisual magic" to create a uniquely funny experience." (link)

History on Sprout

Boohbah was the first-ever show to be broadcast on Sprout, airing when the channel launched at 6AM ET on September 26, 2005. It was one of many Sprout shows to be lifted from the PBS Kids block. From 2006 to 2008, the show aired during The Good Night Show at 1:05AM.

The show was also one out of many to be aired on Sprout On Demand, with selected episodes airing under the "Children's Favorites" label (and eventually in its own label).

The show had its own Sprout Diner snack, "Shiska Boohbahs."

Boobah

"Boobah" instead of "Boohbah"

The show had its own Birthday Show activity, Boohbah Colored Birthday Surprise Ball. After SproutOnline.com rebranded in 2007, when the page for the activity was on a tab, the show would be incorrectly named Boobah. The activity was rethemed to Chica once the show stopped airing on Sprout.[1]

Notes

  • After Sprout Diner was discontinued, and Boohbah was pulled from Sprout, the show's snack was themed after The Mighty Jungle, but was also themed after The Hoobs at a point.
