"Brand New Day" served as the theme song to The Sunny Side Up Show from 2007 to 2013, when it was replaced by "Chica's Here."

Structure

Opening

2007

The Sunshine Barn begins dancing as eggs jump. Farm animals summon an egg which reveals birthday cards coming out of it, and the barn's window reveals Kelly, Kevin, Chica, and Sean. The animals form a conga line as the sun comes out of an egg, revealing the logo.

Hello, Hello, well it's a brand new day

2009

A girl's father serves her an egg for breakfast, and opens a cardboard shoebox with an egg and the Sprout logo where an egg, a bird, and a horse appear, and the camera zooms in to the Sunshine Barn and see some of the hosts the viewer will except to meet on the block. Chica and a few eggs walk into the barn, with a spoon cracking it and the sun comes out.

Don't Go Away!

2007 - 2009

The camera zooms out of the Sunshine Barn and see the sun rising in the egg in the logo. A male singer sings "Don't go away, we'll be right back on The Sunny Side Up Show" in a song called "SSUBUMPDONTGO." During Chica's Healthy Checklist in March 2009, a banner reading that would be seen underneath the show's logo.

Welcome Back

2007 - 2009

The sun rises in the egg and the camera zooms into the Sunshine Barn. A male singer sings "Welcome back to The Sunny Side Up Show" in a song called "SSUBUMPWELCOME."

Closing

2009 - 2013

The father's hand closes the box Sprout Farm is in, as we see kids playing outside the window. A male singer sings "So long, see you next time on The Sunny Side Up Show" in a song called "SSUCLOSEMIX." Also used in segments on YouTube and The Sunny Side Up Show podcast, followed by "Sprout is Yours to Share."

Variations

Notes

  • This song wasn't used in the nighttime Today's Birthdays segment. Rather, a different opening and closing were used.
    • From 2007 to 2009, birthday cards and party supplies come out of an egg reading "birthdays." The camera then cuts to the Birthday segment. In the closing, the sun is wearing a Sweet Dreams Cap identical to Star's and the same conga line of animals in the normal Sunny Side Up Show intro (and Barnyard Boogie), changing "Birthdays" to the Sunny logo. Blue text reads "Weekday mornings, 9am ET."
    • From 2009 to 2013, the intro was ostensibly the same as the standard intro, but shows nighttime (it was morning outside in the weekend birthday segments that aired until 2010) complete with blankets on the ground like in The Goodnight Garden, except it directly cuts to the birthday segment when the barn's window first appears. The final shot was shown on the screen in the Sunshine Barn during the segments. This birthdays intro was shortened in 2012, when Chica and the eggs walk into the barn (and one becomes the Sunny logo) as usual. An iteration of this was also used in Goodnight Stories. They do so in the closing.
  • Clips from the 2009 version of the opening theme were used in a version of Wiggly Waffle theme uploaded by Trace Pictures to YouTube and Vimeo. Likewise, footage of Chica was reused from her introduction promo and the music video for "Squeaka with Chica" and Liz from her own introduction.
  • The lyric "Good to Grow" was also used in "The Birthday Song."
