The Kindest Kid Contest was a contest held by Sprout in 2013 and 2014, coinciding with Kindness Counts. In the contest, Sprout selected five kid finalists who have been kind to either others and to the Earth. The eventual winner, selected on The Today Show, would take a trip to Sprout's headquarters and become the network's Chief Kindness Officer (CKO) for a day, have a charitable donation made in their name, which Sprout would donate $5,000 to, as well as $1 up to $25,000 to a national children’s charity, and visit Chica on the set of The Sunny Side Up Show. The contest was sponsored by ABCMouse.com in 2013 and the Thomas & Friends toyline thw following. For each vote received, Sprout would donate $1 up to $25,000 to a national children's charity.
In December 2013, an on-air countdown was held, hosted by Chica and Kelly and airing kind-themed episodes of shows. The special contained the likes an episode of The Chica Show[1] and a song by Laurie Berkner. Another version was held in 2014, this time with Nina hosting.
