"That's brilliant!"
―Kipper

Kipper is a British animated children's television series based on the characters from Mick Inkpen's Kipper the Dog picture book series. Some episodes are based on particular stories by Inkpen. The videos have won awards including a BAFTA award for best children's animation. Because HiT Entertainment co-owned Sprout when the channel was launched, it aired a variety of shows from its archive library on Sprout, including reruns of Kipper.

Plot

Optimistic and Curious, Kipper is the quintessential child with an active imagination. With his unforgettable charm, Kipper captivates and delights children the world over. The touching and imaginative adventures are based on the best-selling books by Mick Inkpen.

For Parents

"Really listen when kids feel wronged. They're pretty quick to forgive once their angry or hurt feelings are acknowledged."

History on Sprout

The show was one out of many to be aired Sprout On Demand, with selected episodes airing under the "Children's Favorites" label (and eventually in its own label). It joined the network at launch in 2005, but left on July 26, 2015.

The series aired at 8PM, 10AM, 6AM, and 8:30 ET. It later aired at 7:00, 11:15PM, and 12AM, and at 7:14PM and 8:38PM during The Good Night Show. It presumably also aired unbranded from Good Night in the 15 minutes before. In later years, its air times on Good Night were at 7:02 and 8:40PM. However, in October 2011, shortly before the fourth season premiered, the former timeslot was replaced with Rubbadubbers (later Poppy Cat) and the latter was moved to 8:30. Later on, its only timeslot was at 11:15PM ET.

The episode "Skates" was included in Safety First.

Notes

JustinKippererror
  • Nina and her Sproutlet friends once did "Arnold's Clean-Up Stretch" on The Good Night Show. The segment aired during the "Bedtime Routines" blockisode.[1]
  • Prior to its run on Sprout, it aired on Nickelodeon as part of both its Nick Jr. preschool block and children's channel Noggin from 2000 to 2003.
  • A clip from "Sleepless Night" is included in Sprout's Snooze-a-Thon, as well as "La La Lullaby," which aired at the end of The Good Night Show.
  • When the show aired in later years, a background with the moon and stars on the sides of the screen was seen.
  • Mick Inkpen also made Wibbly Pig.
  • In an error, the show and Justin Time shared a bullet in a Sprout show list on SproutOnline.com. Look at the picture.
  • A recipe on SproutOnline.com themed after the show was "Kipper's Pretzel Bones," which was put on the Sprout Diner website later on.
  • The episode "The Nest" was banned due to Kipper and Tiger acting like Native Americans.
