These openings, which aired on Sprout from 2009 to 2015, had Sproutlets and grown-up Sprouts doing something and opening a cardboard shoebox which opened to reveal a cartoon setting, with some animation and the Sprout logo on certain things, while a male singer sings about the show coming up next, ending with a kid's voice saying "Sprout!." Most openings were animated by Trace Pictures, a company which also provided certain activities and the openings for most of Sprout's programming blocks, which also had their own cardboard shoebox openings and closings.
According to Meredith Halpern, the idea for Sprout to have a "Sproutlet-constructed" theme was because Sproutlets at home sent in videos, drawings, and cards to the Sprout boxes they personalized.
