Liz2020

Liz in 2020.

Liz Filios was the host of The Sunny Side Up Show from November 1, 2010 to June 2012, when she was replaced by Carly Ciarrocchi, but returned at least twice in 2013, one which was for Bugs and Insects Week. Despite this, Filios still appeared in segments such as "Liz on Location," in which she would go around exploring with Sproutlets.

Biography

From the Sprout Press Room:

"Liz Filios is a host of The Sunny Side Up Show on Sprout, the first 24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online for kids ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers. Along with her co-host, Chica the Chicken, Liz interacts live with preschoolers and their families across the country, as she shares daily birthday greetings, viewer-submitted crafts, fun facts and weekly themes ranging from colors, numbers and letters to manners, gardening and pets. A 27-year-old actor originally from Michigan, Liz discovered her love of performance at an early age. She began ballet and piano at five, and at the age of eight, she participated in her first play, which sparked her love of acting. Most recently, Liz performed in the Philadelphia-based Arden Theatre’s productions of The Threepenny Opera, Sunday in the Park with George and Candide, as well as in Eurydice and The Life of Galileo at The Wilma Theater and Les Miserables at The Walnut Street Theatre. Over the past seven years, Liz has written, directed and performed in multiple concerts, including a holiday show at San Juan de Dios Children’s Hospital in Caracas, Venezuela, and World AIDS Day Benefit concerts in Chicago and Cape Town, South Africa. She has also performed as a vocalist with the International Opera Theater, the Cape Town Opera Company and Celebrity Cruises in Europe. As host of The Sunny Side Up Show, Liz links Sprout’s gold-standard, curriculum-based programs with live segments that create a warm, welcoming and fun environment where preschoolers and their parents can gather each morning to prepare for the day ahead and share birthdays, greetings, ideas, crafts and more. Airing every day from 9 a.m. – noon ET, The Sunny Side Up Show is television’s only live show for preschoolers. Liz lives in Philadelphia, holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan, and was recently nominated for both a Perry Award and a Barrymore Award. In her free time, she enjoys teaching acting and voice to high school students, and participating in arts and literacy outreach projects in local elementary and middle schools." (link)

Notes

  • Liz's Sunny opening was her making music and playing instruments with her Sproutlet friends, which was recycled from her intro promo.
  • Coincidentally, Liz's Sunny Side Up Show debut was also the day Driver Dan's Story Train premiered on Sprout.
