Lucy was a firefly who would light the way to Sprout programming seen on The Good Night Show. She is named after "luz," the word for "light" in Spanish.[1]
Lucy is Nina and Star's enchanting firefly friend who tells them who's coming to play, a trait Hush previously used, via either the stars or a full moon. They also like to play a special game with her called Lucy Light the Way, where she lights up something at a different location for them to guess what it is.
Lucy was introduced during the twenty-four Very Special Good Night shows hosted by Leo, sleeping in his pocket and starting to glow when she woke up. When Leo noticed her glowing, he took her out of his pocket and let her fly around the Goodnight Garden. She also helped him grow plants and trees.
Lucy was originally a puppet, but received an animated makeover in 2011 during the fourth season, which introduced The You and Me Tree. Starting that season, she would reveal the constellations that Nina and Star would look at through the Sprout-o-scope after singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

- Nina and her Sproutlet friends once did a Lucy stretch. The segment aired during the Bugs and Insects blockisode.[2]
