HNY2015

Chica celebrating New Year's 2015.

New Year is the time or day at which a new calendar year begins and the calendar's year count increments by one. Many cultures celebrate the event in some manner. In the Gregorian calendar, the most widely used calendar system today, New Year occurs on January 1 (New Year's Day). This was also the first day of the year in the original Julian calendar and the Roman calendar (after 153 BC).

Sprout has rang into the New Year in many times. "Happy Hooby Holidays" (a debut marathon of The Hoobs hosted by the characters Tula and Groove) had an encore on January 1st, 2007 (New Year's Day). It previously aired on December 25th, 2006.

The hosts of The Sunny Side Up Show have done a special "Countdown to Noon" as early as 2009 and, starting in 2012, hosted The Chica Awards.

Miles guest hosted The Sunny Side Up Show in 2007 to help ring into 2008.

Super Grover (Eric Jacobson) from Sesame Street guested on The Sunny Side Up Show in 2008 for Time week with Kelly and Chica to help "sing" into 2009. The three sang a song about their new years resolutions to the tune of "Turkey and the Straw." Grover's resolutions included learning to take pictures, discovering a new breed of blue apple, tying his shoes with a penguin, and drinking hot chocolate with a dove. Vrooman and Chica bestowed upon Grover the Super Good Egg Award. In his humble acceptance speech, Super Grover thanked his mommy, his daddy, his cousin Georgie, his uncle Frank, his uncle Frank's tailor, his aunt Susie and his brother Norman.[1] It is also worth noting certain shows from Summer Fun Fridays possibly aired during the festivities.[2]

Sprout's New Year's Eve Sing Along also aired in 2008, airing from 12PM to 6PM ET and featuring a handful of well-known Christmas carols.

On the last day of 2009, Dennisha Pratt started hosting The Sunny Side Up Show during a Countdown to Noon starting at 11:30PM ET,[3] replacing Kevin Yamada.

What's Your News? premiered on New Year's Eve 2010, with Grant appearing on The Sunny Side Up Show to promote and the addition of a new segment, Sproutlet News Report.

"Sprout's Cheer in the New Year" was a special episode of The Good Night Show premiering in 2011 in which Nina and Star, assisted by Sprout guests, did activities to celebrate the new year.
