Nina's World is a Canadian-American animated children's television series. It has been known as a prequel to The Good Night Show, focusing on host Nina, as a 6-year-old Latina who lives with her family in an unidentified big city. Michele Lepe executive produced the show and voices Nina's mami, while Rita Moreno voices her abuela. The show premiered in September 2015.

Premise

"Nina’s World tells the story of imaginative six-year-old Nina and her best friend Star. Together, the pair explores Nina's vibrant and colorful neighborhood. Every day transforms into a new excursion that celebrates family, community, diversity, and wonder."

History

The series, then known as Little Nina, or Little Nina and Friends, was announced on January 19th, 2014. A pilot was made by Karrot Animation, known for their work on Sprout show Sarah & Duck.[1]

The finalized series started airing on Sprout on September 26th, 2015, the day of the tenth anniversary rebrand. It aired at 7PM and 10PM ET after "Best Day Ever book" segments on The Good Night Show. In these segments, only appearing in the sixth season, Nina would read Star stories from her childhood.

The series also aired in the mornings at 7AM, afternoons at 4PM, and weekend mornings at 8AM.

  • Footage of the show's pilot was seen in an online sizzle reel from around 2014.
  • The "Nina's World" trademark was filed on October 6th, 2014, and Rita Moreno was announced as joining the series on November 4th.
