Sean Roach (born October 17) was one of the hosts of The Sunny Side Up Show. He hosted it from January 28, 2008, joining Chica, Kevin Yamada, and Kelly Vrooman as the third host, to December 13, 2013, when he wanted to focus more on art and was replaced by Tim Kubart. He also hosted Noodle and Doodle. Currently, Sean is still an artist and resides in Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.

"Sean Roach is host of The Sunny Side Up Show on PBS KIDS Sprout, the first 24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online for kids ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers. Along with his sidekick puppet, Chica the chicken, Sean interacts live with preschoolers and their families across the country, as he shares daily birthday greetings, viewer-submitted crafts, fun facts and weekly themes ranging from colors, numbers and letters to manners, gardening and pets. A 32-year-old actor originally from Lansdale, PA, Sean had his first acting role in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and has performed in over 40 productions since 2001. Sean’s passion for acting comes from his enjoyment of connecting with people and working creatively with a team. Sean attended the Tyler School of Art with a BFA in painting. As an accomplished scenic artist he has worked with many notable companies like The Wilma Theater, Proof Productions and Busch Gardens. Sean is also actively involved in the theater community and is currently a member of the award-winning improvisational comedy troupe, Comedy Sportz. As host of The Sunny Side Up Show, Sean links Sprout’s gold-standard, curriculum-based programs with live segments that create a warm, welcoming and fun environment where preschoolers and their parents can gather each morning to prepare for the day ahead and share birthdays, greetings, ideas, crafts and more. Airing every weekday from 9 a.m. – noon ET, The Sunny Side Up Show is television’s only live show for preschoolers. Sean lives in the Philadelphia area with his fiancée and his interests include fine art painting, and traveling." (link)

Notes

  • When Roach was busy filming his show Noodle and Doodle in Michigan as of June 2010, he seldom hosted around the time (once for Sea Animals week[1]) and to an extent hosted only on weekends prior to Liz Filios joining the show that November.
  • In Sean's Sunny opening, he rode on the back of a kiddie train and waved. This was also used in the Wiggly Waffle theme.
  • Roach hosted the Let's Grow video Safety First, which was released in 2010.
  • Roach's son Everest appeared on Sunny on April 19th, 2013 for Dinosaurs Week.[2]
