On November 23rd, 2006, PBS KIDS Sprout celebrated Thanksgiving Day with a special known as "Sprout's Thanksgiving Diner Party," hosted by Sprout Diner stars Bean, Brussel, and Alfalfa as they would prepare a healthy Thanksgiving feast and including thanksgiving-themed episodes of shows like Sesame Street, Jay Jay the Jet Plane, and Barney & Friends. Additionally, hand turkeys from characters like like Elmo, Barney, Bob, and Angelina Mouseling were shown, and Kevin made one of his own on The Birthday Show. SproutOnline.com would feature a Thanksgiving recipe from Sprout Diner and instructions for making hand turkeys.[1]
A contest was also held from November 23rd through December 31st[2] asking parents to submit a Sprout Diner snack for Thomas & Friends, such as "Choo Choo Chopped Salad"[3] or "Thomas' Tasty Tomato Dip." The winner ended up being Adrianna and her mom of the Shaughnessy family from Maryland's "Thomas' Club Car Sandwiches," which got its own webisode short.
