"Sprout Please" promos (2008)
Sprout Please was a promotion encouraging television viewers ask for Sprout in their neighborhoods, created by Lauren Monks[1] and launching in 2008. The campaign also had a website which consisted of crafts, recipes, and coloring pages.
Description
- "Sprout Please!" is a campaign designed to raise awareness of PBS KIDS Sprout among families with preschoolers. Sprout is a 24-hour preschool channel that parents and kids share together — available on TV, on demand and online at www.SproutOnline.com. Our programming schedule is designed to follow the day of a preschooler — whether it's waking up to singing and dancing, filling afternoons with crafts and activities or winding down with stretches and stories, Sprout is always ready with trusted shows like Sesame Street, Bob the Builder and Barney and beloved originals like The Sunny Side Up Show and The Good Night Show."
Commercials
Two commercials were produced for Sprout by the company Moving Picture[2] for the promotion in 2008. These promos were considered a throwback to "I Want My MTV" from the 80s.

Notes
- The commercials were shot from April 2nd to 3rd, 2008 and filmed in Florida, as the Fratelli Milano restaurant in Miami can be seen at one point in the first one.
- The Sprout Please ads were an honorable mention for ads/series of ads video in CableFax's Best of the Web in 2009, losing to the Time Warner Cable Los Angeles moving campaign.[3]
- The site was briefly renamed "WigglesPlease.com" when it was announced The Wiggles were coming to Sprout.
- Another promo, which also used Mitchell's cover of "Three Little Birds," was used (including the verses not included in the original promo), and featured Cookie Monster saying "Sprout Please" albeit in a very low tone. Right now, it is extremely rare and hard to find.[4]
- When on Sprout On Demand, the announcer at the end of the first promo would say "You asked Sprout On Demand, now ask for the channel - call 866-9-SPROUT today and say 'Sprout Please!'."
- A version of the second promo featuring the soundtrack heard in the first occasionally appeared on Sprout on Demand.
- Sprout Please videos were available on SproutOnline.com for some time.
- Ads for the website could be seen throughout New York City.
