The series follows the lives of a family of anthropomorphic bears who learn a moral or safety-related lesson during each episode. == History on Sprout ==
The show premiered on [[September 26]], 2005, along with several other shows, to celebrate the launch of the Sprout network. Before that, they released it on [[Sprout On Demand]] on [[Comcast]]. Since then, the show became the second highest performing show on the Sprout channel, third on Sprout on Demand, and sixth on the channel's website, [[SproutOnline.com]]. In November of that year, a marathon of the show was held to pay tribute to Stan Berenstain, the co-author of the original books who died.

In 2006, [[Kevin Yamada]] hosted [[Papa Bear's Day Celebration]], named after the show's father, where he read father's day cards.<ref>[http://web.archive.org/web/20060703043011/http://www.sproutletsgrow.com/specials/papa/index.html Papa Bear's Day Celebration]</ref>

Unlike other [[PBS]] shows, this show survived the 10th-anniversary rebranding, along with ''[[Caillou]]'', but didn't make it to the [[Universal Kids]] rebranding, with its last airing being on the day the channel launched.

* A screencap of the opening from the original 1980s specials was used in 2011 in a Sprout birthday card for [[Sproutlets|Sproutlet]] Luke, 2, of [[Texas]]. Other birthday cards, as well as [[Tip Tap Sprout]], used illustrations or covers from the original books.
* It is unknown why it wasn't removed in 2015, as PBS still owns the rights to it.
