"The Birthday Song," as the name suggests, is an original birthday song from The Sunny Side Up Show and an alternative to the traditional "Happy Birthday to You" song. It was introduced in 2007 alongside Sunny, and was shown before Sproutlet birthdays as well as the Today's Birthdays segments. The song was also performed by the hosts in birthday videos sent to children on SproutOnline.com.

Kelly Vrooman encouraged people to sing their own rendition of this song, alongside pretending their stuffed plush is Chica, introducing a theme and a show for Sprout's Host Hunt contest in 2013.

Several variations of the song have included a version for Waffle Day in 2010 and a version for the New Year in Sprout's Cheer in the New Year.

In 2015, for Sprout's tenth anniversary rebrand and Sunny Side Up's move to the city, the song was given a pop style and included clips of shows and footage of Sproutlets, as well as new lyrics. Additionally, the "good" in the line "you're good to grow" was changed to "free," referencing Sprout's then-new slogan, "free to grow."

The song has often been sung by celebrity guests, including Michelle Obama and the students of New York School for the Deaf.

The song was performed for Jett in the Chica Show episode "Chica's Beach Party."

Notes

  • Despite an instrumental of it being heard, the song was absent several times from 2008 to 2010, usually when Nina hosted. However, she finally sang it in 2011 when filling in for Dennisha.
