In Season 6.

The Goodnight Garden was the primary location of The Good Night Show for seasons 1 of the original through 3 of the reboot. The Goodnight Garden consisted of blankets on the ground and trees with star-shaped leaves and was presumably located in the Hills of Sprout.

The matronly Melanie "lived in" the Goodnight Garden, where she would stretch, make crafts, look through constellations, and tell stories with the Sproutlet viewers. While the garden usually had blankets on the ground and trees with stars, and later flowers, on them, the live-action set, filmed at Hill Theatre Studio, showed a big blue chair as well as a small bookshelf. Originally, the garden's walls changed from light blue to dark blue multiple times either during or depending on the segments. The set was painted by Esteban Granados, Hill Theatre Studio's studio manager, in a four-day stint. After Melanie Martinez was axed from Sprout, Melanie's chair, as well as the original Moonbeam Wheel remained on display in the Comcast Center. A crayon drawing of the chair was seen in a Sprout Press Room video about Sprout's history, while Star introduced Nina.[1]

When Nina debuted in the first season of the reboot, which premiered in late-2006, the chair was replaced by a couch, also blue, shaped like a crescent moon where she and Star would relax and help viewers wind down after a busy day. Other parts of the garden besides the chair and moon couch were shown in, as of the second season, Sprout stretch, craft, sign language, and Goodnight Game segments, and judging from behind the scenes pictures, were right next to the main set. The original moon chair was also moved to the Sprout floor of the Comcast Center.

When the You and Me Tree became the block's new primary location when the fourth season premiered in 2011, several things were transported over, including the couch and Star's hammock, and the Goodnight Garden was still shown (and even referred to) in segments such as Sprout Stretches or the Star Talks segments. The blankets on the ground were removed in 2015, when the sixth season premiered.

Notes

  • The seasons 5 & 6 opening hint that the garden is in a boy and his mom's cardboard shoebox, while the intro in the first four seasons hint that it is in a bird's cage.
