The Many Adventures of Mr. Mailman was one of Sprout's first few original series. A spin-off of The Birthday Show, it was a short-form series that aired during program breaks.

Plot[]

From the Sprout Press Room:

"Mr. Mailman travels around the world to deliver letters and gifts to SproutĀ® friends and family in locations that are as close as the local library or as far as the nighttime sky. Through digital still photography, and the integration of simple props, graphics and a live-action element, Mr. Mailman travels to a variety of locales where he encounters unique local terrain, weather, animals and obstacles while delivering the mail. Mr. Mailman, already a popular character on the Sprout network, also delivers birthday cards each day to The Sunny Side Up Show. Whatever Mr. Mailman delivers, it is sure to be packaged with laughs, facts and fun." (link)

Goals[]

"Children are introduced to the concepts of travel, new places and geography. Dr. Renee Cherow-O’Leary, Professor of English Education at Teachers College, Columbia University and President of Education for the 21st Century (an educational consulting firm in New York City), acted as curriculum advisor in creating the show."

Interactive Components[]

"The Mr. Mailman section of SproutOnline.com includes related crafts and interactive games. Preschoolers and their parents can download their own personalized ā€œpassportā€ and a cut-out of Mr. Mailman, and even join Mr. Mailman’s Official Travel Club. Interactive games, such as dressing Mr. Mailman for the appropriate weather in the state to which he will be traveling, are also featured."

Co-Viewing Components[]

"Parents are encouraged to send in from various locales vacation photos of their children with Mr. Mailman that may be shown on television or posted on the website."

History[]

The series was first announced in December 2005, when Sprout announced four interstitial series focusing on geography, healthy eating, music, and creative storytelling created by Andrew Beecham, Meredith Halpern, and Susan Carden and outscoring production to Los Angeles-based Johnson and Murphy.[4] Based on a character who delivered host Kevin birthday cards on The Birthday Show, Many Adventures was the geography series, joining Sprout on July 3, 2006. The healthy eating series became Sprout Diner, while the music and creative storytelling series aired as interstitials when The Good Night Show was on hiatus.

The series got a second season on Valentine's Day 2007 as part of Sprout's Special Valentine Delivery.[5]

It aired four to six times a day - at 8:30AM ET and 1:15PM ET, and later at 7:00 and 7:20AM when Musical Mornings launched and 11:30AM on The Sunny Side Up Show. It also aired at 11:15AM on weekend mornings and 7AM during The Let's Go Show.

It left Sprout sometime in late 2010.
