The Sunshine Barn was the primary location of The Sunny Side Up Show from 2007 until 2015, as well as a minigame formerly available on SproutOnline.com.
The barn is located in Sprout Farm, which itself is located in the hills of Sprout. Most of the main action took place inside or nearby the barn, where Sproutlets could interact live with Chica and the hosts. It was decorated with farm-themed objects and preschool items like books and toys. The studio was a small space, so only three people - the production assistant, Chicateer, and host - were in there.[1] There were three cameras, but robotically controlled from the control room, which was in the neighboring room separated by a window.
2007 - 2009
When the block launched, the barn consisted of a window with the sun ("Sunny") peeking through (during the Today's Birthdays segment, night was shown out the window instead, and the sun had a purple winter hat on during the 2008 holiday season), the day of the week in green directly above the window, a red and blue coop mainly used for Dress Chica segments, a blue clock with a scrambled egg in the center, a board containing Sproutlets' birthday cards and pictures of the hosts, pictures relating to the week's theme (and occasionally those of Sprout characters), and a pink screen resembling a toaster which displayed weekly theme and segment title cards, introduced shows, and showed split-screen credits. When another Sprout personality was guest hosting, a picture of their co-host would be by them. After the studio set changed in 2009, the original clock, along with the one in The Sprout Sharing Show Father's Day Special, was hung up in Sprout offices. A hay loft was at the top of the set. This set was smaller, as with most live TV show sets, and the most basic.
Originally, the sun was on the left with a bush on the right, but was later moved to the right.
2009 - 2010
In January 2009,[2] the barn was given a larger makeover built by Gregory Kochan. Sean announced the remodeling on the set since there were construction workers, and explained the new barn would debut next week. The set now consisted of a window with curtains showing a farm-like setting outside and the day of the week in red or light orange on a blue sign, a light purple computer screen with dark purple stripes, a purple and blue printer with a face often used to print out Tell Chica messages during split-screen credits, a chair with cow spots, a clock resembling the sun, which was replaced with the moon in birthday segments or balloons during weekend birthdays, a leaf with the name of the week's theme, another birthday card board, a shelf, and a barn-like crate. Figures of the Eggs with Leggs were added to the set, appearing on the windowsill and the shelf. The eggs were seen wearing Sweet Dreams caps, even during the day. Initially, the barn part of the crate was absent, the window had no curtains, just like the original barn, the shelf had a framed picture of the Sprout logo, and the board was noticeably higher. When not on-air, the window showed black, but a video of the sky rolling played to make it look like it.[3] The barn crate was on display in Sprout offices once it was removed from the set of The Sunny Side Up Show.
2010 - 2013
In September 2010, when The Sunny Side Up Show started broadcasting on weekends, the set was given another makeover, now adding a green flower-shaped clock, with the sun clocks only being shown on occasion, a red and blue crate and drawer, possibly a throwback to the coop from the first set, a blackboard surrounded by orange stripes used for the occasional Drawing with Chica segment or others, like a cake-making segment with Dennisha and princess Chica, and a blue printer. Before Liz joined the show, the theme leaf became embedded by the host group picture. The green flower clock had no numbers in the likes of birthday segments and promos. During certain themed weeks, the outside of the window would show something related to said theme (for example, it would rain fruit during Healthy Sproutlets weeks).
2013 - 2014
In December 2013, when NBCUniversal acquired Sprout and Tim and Kaitlin joined the cast, the barn got updated, now consisting of a blue board with the week's theme, the window and the day of the week, and a board containing crafts and art supplies. This window was used for both weather reports and split-screen credits, and characters from shows were seen outside waving before an episode of their show played. The Sprout Pad, a blue tablet device featuring the trademark green flower from Sprout's logo, was also used by the hosts for viewers' messages and birthday wishes, but was usually used to tell the time. The host picture was now on a shelf. A pink tube could be seen on set in July, 2014.
2014 - 2015
In October 2014, the set moved to 30 Rockefeller Plaza as a result of Sprout itself's move to New York a year prior. New to the set then were a blue craft bookshelf and the Sunshine Stage, which was by a large red window and mainly used for Sprout Today segments, musical numbers, and guest spots.

Road trip to the big city.
Demolition
In September 2015 with Sprout's rebrand and The Sunny Side Up Show being rechristened as Sunny Side Up, the Barn was replaced with an apartment somewhere in the city with, according to Sandy Wax, more screens, representing the fact that children at the time spent a lot of time on screens.[4] The last show in the Sunshine Barn was on September 18th, and a "road trip" arc aired in between then and the 26th. Despite this, the float with the barn and The You and Me Tree was still present in that year and the following's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, albeit known as "Free to Play," which reflected Sprout's new slogan.
Recreations
Replicas of the Sunshine Barn were made for, once again, the Sprout float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which was introduced in 2012, and the Sprout Mall Tour, which ran from 2008 to 2011.
Merchandise
Judging from StyleWorks Creative's website, there was going to be a toy kitchen that resembled the Sunshine Barn as well as a Fisher-Price Little People-esque play set. However, it is unknown if these products ever came to fruition.
Notes
- Live broadcasts of The Good Night Show (including Astroblast weekend and A Sweet Goodnight Treat) usually took place in the Barn, due to the Goodnight Garden (later the You and Me Tree) either not existing or impractical for live broadcasts.
- The 2009 opening hints that the barn is inside a Sproutlet and her dad's cardboard shoebox.
- A special set was made and often used for special events whether the actual set was too big for many people, such as Chica's Big Birthday Surprise or The Wiggles' 2009 appearance. This barn set was shown to be outside the Barn itself.
- Judging from an animation test for The Chica Show, the Costume Coop was intended to resemble the barn, complete with the window and flower clock.
